On a beautiful sunny winters day, students from Years 2-6 were excited to further preparations for the upcoming athletics carnival with a special session delivered by the Little Athletics Program for Schools (LAPS) team. The students were given the opportunity to develop event specific running, jumping and throwing skills through participating in highly active sessions on our oval with fully qualified Australian Track & Field Coaches Bianca and Mark.

Starting with our seniors from Years 5 and 6, students enjoyed a range of games and fun activities through the 40 minute session, while also confirming the competition technique requirements for shot put and long jump. Our teaching staff were also given the opportunity to refresh their athletics teaching skills and connect with online resources through the LAPS website. Hopefully students will now have the tools to participate in our athletics carnival successfully and confidently and win LOTS of points for their houses. Years 3-6 had their turn with the coaches today!

We wanted to extend our gratitude to both Mark and Bianca from LAPS for this wonderful free opportunity for Campbell Primary, their enthusiasm and encouragement had even the most reluctant of athletes having a go.  We hope we see them again next year!
