Deputy Principal's Report

Dear families,

It has been wonderful to walk around the learning communities and hear the happy buzz of students engaged in their learning. The students have settled back into their learning quickly and it is hard to believe that it was only one term ago that they moved into their new spaces.

Please see below for some important information and documentation around term overviews, NCCD and ILP/PLPs.

Term Overviews

Term overviews are due to families this Friday. The overviews highlight all the teaching and learning that will take place over Term 3. Included within the overviews are all the 'Important Dates' for Term 3. We will endeavour to send through reminders about our upcoming events via our other communication platforms, for example, Seesaw and Facebook.

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)

We have recently completed our NCCD. Each year data is collected around the number of students receiving an adjustment or support due to a disability and the level of adjustment they are receiving.

If you would like to find out more information about the NCCD please click on the link below. https://www.nccd.edu.au/sites/default/files/nccd_parent_fact_sheet_english_0.pdf

Individual Learning Plans (PLPs) Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) updated

During the reporting period teachers worked with students’ data to create, amend, and update their ILPs or PLPs. We do not meet with families during this review process; however, a draft updated Plan will be sent home with your child next week. We encourage families to read the Plans, make any comments and return to the school. If families believe the Plan is accurate, we ask that you sign it prior to returning it back to school. If you would like further information, please contact Erin Minehan: erin.minehan@ed.act.edu.au.

Please see attached a COVID-19 update from the ACT Chief Health Officer, Kerryn Coleman to our school community as well as some further advice below from the Education Directorate about COVID-19 safety measures in our schools.  You can also watch Dr Coleman in her video message on the Directorates Facebook page.

COVID-19 safety measures in ACT public schools and mask wearing advice

While COVID-19 continues to cause some uncertainty in our community our schools and the Directorate are working hard to ensure students continue to access high quality learning regardless of the public health situation.

Please read the short update on safety measures in our schools below.

ACT Public Schools COVID-19 Management Plan for Term 3

The Education Directorate has updated its ACT Public Schools COVID-19 Management Plan for Term 3.

The Plan has been reviewed in consultation with ACT Health.

Your school will communicate with you if your child is affected. This includes any changes to how they will access their learning (if learning from home) and what that will look like, including for how long.

A reminder about mask wearing

Masks remain an important measure to stop the spread of COVID-19 in our community and in our schools.

Alongside other COVID Smart behaviours, masks can help reduce transmission of COVID-19 respiratory illnesses in our schools.

Staff and visitors to schools must also wear a mask indoors when physical distancing can’t be maintained.

The Directorate, through your school will keep you updated over the term.

For more information read the updated ACT Public Schools COVID-19 Management Plan  available on the Directorate’s website.

ACT Health has developed an online resource on acute respiratory infections in children which you are encouraged to read.

Have a lovely week,

Kate Stear

Acting Deputy Principal
