ANZAC Assembly

ANZAC Assembly

On Friday the 29th of April Campbell Primary School paused to remember and reflect on the service and sacrifice of Australian Defence Force members past and present. Unfortunately, our whole school assembly with invited guests wasn’t possible this year, which gave us the opportunity to be creative in our commemoration delivery. Custom digital presentations were prepared for our 4 cohorts (Preschool, K-2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6) to suit their respective levels of understanding. This was supported by a gorgeous performance by our junior choir and video speaking roles from just a handful of our many special students from ADF families from those respective cohorts.

For those interested the following links are the feature video from each of the presentations:

Preschool: ANZAC Ted (story)

Kindy - Year 2: Here They Come, A Day to Remember (Story)

Year 3 and 4: ANZAC Special, the Gallipoli Story

Year 5 and 6: Stories of Service - Jim Murphy (Boy Soldier)

Unfortunately, we are unable to share the full presentation due to media consent restrictions but please email me if you would like a copy of your child’s speaking part. The choir performance has been shared with families via seesaw.

A huge thankyou to all of the students that spoke so beautifully on video; we have some amazing future public speakers at Campbell. Appreciation also goes to the junior choir led by Ms Dee and Ms Scott who worked incredibly hard on their song “The Last ANZAC” by Michael Travers. Finally, an acknowledgment of the respect shown by our entire student body throughout the services and especially during the minute of silence. They are the keepers of the future of our traditions of ANZAC Day; I am confident it’s in good hands!

Lest We Forget.

We hope to return to a traditional format with the opportunity for families to attend in time for Remembrance Day. Thank you to all the families that sent in items to allow students to represent their family members’ service; it was wonderful to see our long association with local ADF represented so proudly. Please enjoy a selection of the photos from Friday.
