Year 6 Student Leadership
Year 6 Student Leadership
Now that we are settling into the new buildings, it’s time for the Year 6 students to nominate for leadership positions! Our budding leaders have been busy workshopping with Ms Herrington and Ms Deady, preparing their speeches ready for this Friday morning.
This year, we are introducing a new format for school leaders, which should allow for greater opportunity for students to lead in their areas of interest. Students have been given a clear job description for the school leader roles, which helped them to reflect on their own qualities and decide if they would like to self-nominate as a candidate.
School Leader Job Description:
School leaders at Campbell Primary School are expected to uphold themselves to high standards within our school community, by always doing their best to display the qualities of a safe, respectful learner. They must be friendly, approachable and easy for other children and school staff to get along with. School leaders need to strive to achieve the best possible outcomes for the Campbell Primary School community.
- Communicate with teachers and school executive about upcoming school events
- Meet with team to discuss new projects/issues
- Be a positive role model who always tries to be a safe, respectful learner (this may be seen in behaviour, effort and by wearing the school uniform)
- Public speaking and presenting to school and wider community
- Be an active member of the community (participate in sports carnivals and special school events)
- Be approachable to encourage other students (including younger) to seek assistance or share ideas
All Year 6 students will be a part of either the Health and Wellbeing, Sustainability, Technology or Community committees. This is to encourage the participation of all students.
Year 6 has been a hive of excitement and enthusiasm throughout the week as we have planned for leadership speeches, which we are very excited to see on Friday morning. We have a whopping 27 hopeful students who are in the running, which must be a record! Children who are interested in being house captains will present their speeches at house meetings on Monday 9 May. We are looking forward to updating the community with the members of our new school leadership team very soon!
