Principal's Message
Dear families,
Welcome back to an exciting Term 2!
It has been lovely to start the term in our new Learning communities. The children and teachers are discovering new and exciting ways to use all the new equipment and spaces. I would like to thank the Campbell Primary School staff who attended the school site over the holiday period to prepare for the transition and to welcome students back on the first day of term. With Covid-19 restrictions set to ease, we are looking forward to opening the school to parents.
On Monday the 23 May the P&C will be hosting a sausage sizzle and their Annual General Meeting followed by our first Parent walk through. We would love to see as many parents as possible from our community attend and become actively involved in our P&C.
6.00pm: Sausage Sizzle
6.30pm: AGM and School walk through
Staffing
The staff at Campbell Primary School are working tirelessly to continue the learning during times of staff shortages. Wherever possible the school actively seeks to employ relief teachers to cover classes. However, sometimes it is necessary to split classes, cancel special programs, combine classes and in extreme situations move to supervision only or remote learning. Decisions regarding supervision only and remote learning are made in consultation with the Education Directorate. We understand that this can cause disruption, but we ask our community for your continued support during this complex time.
In exciting news……
This term we welcome back Imogen Micieli and Samantha Gee from maternity leave. Both members of staff are working as part of our early childhood team across Kindergarten to Year 2.
2023 Enrolments are open
Enrolments for the 2023 school year are now open. Applications submitted by 3 June will receive communication regarding placement from 25 July. Further information for enrolling is available via the Education Directorate website: www.education.act.gov.au or the Enrolments Telephone Service (02) 6205 5429.
Staff planning days, term 2, 2022
The ACT Government is supporting all ACT public schools to hold two staff planning days during Term 2. These days will provide public school teachers with some extra space to complete lesson planning, student assessment, moderation, and reporting.
Our school will hold staff planning days on: Tuesday, 17 May 2022, and Thursday, 9 June 2022.
Where possible, we ask that students do not attend school on these days.
Students who can’t stay at home will be able to attend school and be supervised while undertaking general learning activities. Please confirm via phone on 6142 3580 or email campbellps@ed.act.edu.au if your child will be attending school on these days.
School reporting
Semester 1 student reports
With the middle of the school year fast approaching our teachers will soon be preparing student reports for Semester 1. This semester we will be providing students with an overall A-E grade, and an assessment of achievement standard statements on a 5-point scale.
While Semester 1 reports won’t include detailed teacher comments, parents are encouraged to speak directly with their child’s teacher(s) if they have any questions or concerns about their progress. Our teachers will also continue to communicate directly with you when there are any concerns about student learning or other classroom updates.
