Principal's Message

Kinsman_Paula.jpg

Dear families,

As we come to the end of the year it is a time of mixed emotions as we acknowledge and farewell some of the staff who have supported students at Campbell Primary School.

Each year in the ACT we have our teacher transfer round which enables teachers who are at their transfer entitlement date to move into different educational settings.  Amy Dean will be joining Hawker Primary School, Kate Marley will be joining Fraser Primary School and Danielle Woods and Emma Smallmon will join Throsby School in 2022.

Each teacher has been with the school for several years, working tirelessly to ensure quality learning has been taking place in the classrooms and that every child feels a strong sense of purpose and engagement in the Campbell Primary School community.  The rapport that the teachers build with students and families is what makes Campbell Primary School a great place to be!  These exceptional teachers will be missed, but we wish them well in their new schools. Families are invited to take a moment to reflect on the contributions that the exiting teachers have made in your child’s educational journey and to perhaps let them know the impact they have had before they set off on their next big adventure.

I would also like to congratulate and announce that both Rachel Pace and Rachel Thane have been offered a permanent position at Campbell Primary School and welcome back Emma Johnston and Kylie Cheater who will be returning from maternity leave.

2022 Planning

We are continuing to review our students’ numbers for 2022, recently we have had several new enrolments which has had implications on class sizes and class composition.  As such, it would be premature to make an announcement regarding which specific teacher is assigned to a specific year group or class. We will provide this detailed information prior to the end of the year. At present, we have planned our staff into teaching teams, this is NOT an indication of straight and/or multi-age cohorts.

Presently, our teaching teams are:

Transitions and orientations

Preschool and Kindergarten families should have received information regarding how school transitions are taking place for their little person.  In these communications families were invited to book a telephone conversation with Ms Kinsman or Ms Minehan to have a “get to know you” discussion, provided with dates to collect information packs, social stories and how children would be familiarised with their learning environment.  If you have missed any of the communications, please contact the front office on 61423580 to receive a copy.

Our Year 6 students have had visitors from Campbell High School including year level co-ordinators and student representatives.  This was an opportunity to hear about the programs and experiences offered at Campbell High School and for students to ask any burning questions regarding being a Year 7 student.
