Principal's message

Kinsman_Paula.jpg

Dear families,

It has been wonderful to see so many parents coming into the school for both learning journey and parent interviews.  We hope you have enjoyed the opportunity to share in your child’s learning and engage with their classroom teacher to discuss their progress. Next term, you will receive their academic reports as another avenue of providing feedback on your child’s learning and growth.  Please remember that if you have concerns you are always welcome to book an appointment with the classroom teacher or a member of the leadership team at anytime throughout the year.

Indigenous Smoking ceremony

On Thursday 25th March, Campbell Primary School student leaders and representatives participated in a smoking ceremony to cleanse and refresh the land where the construction site is taking place.  We were honoured to host dignitaries including the Deputy Chief Minister Yvette Berry MLA, Aunty Violet and local Indigenous representatives and representatives from Lend Lease, The Education Directorate and Campbell Primary School.

A Smoking Ceremony is acknowledgement of starting ‘afresh’ and recognising past and future Elders and community members. The purpose of the Ceremony is to spiritually cleanse the area in which the smoking ceremony takes place, to allow peace and recognise the importance of a meeting. Cleansing the school site of the new school build allows us a fresh start as we look to the important task of educating our future generations and providing an environment that fosters a sense of nurturing and learning, not only for our children, but for our staff and the broader community.
