Principals message
Dear Families,
Welcome to Term 1 2021. We would like to extend a warm welcome to our returning families and our new families who have joined us. We are looking forward to a wonderful year of learning and flexible play spaces. We would like to thank our community for their understanding and patience as we become familiar with our changing environment. More details about how we are catering to students during break times is included below. Please be aware that there may be minor tweaks as we assess supervision, line of sight and listen to student voice and feedback.
Staff changes
We would like to welcome Fiona McKellar into the role of Business Manager. Fiona is keen to establish positive relationships with students, staff and parents and is looking forward to getting to know our community throughout the year. Fiona brings to Campbell Primary School a wealth of knowledge and experience in working in the school environment.
With Fiona’s commencement at Campbell Primary School you may be asking “but, where has our beloved Donna gone”? Donna is currently on long service leave as she transitions into retirement. We are very excited for Donna as she embarks on new adventures but we cannot all help but feel a little lost without her presence.
Donna has been the beating heart of CPS since 2004 when she entered the school on a casual contract as a Learning Support Assistant. Throughout the years she progressed to office secretary and then business manager. She has welcomed and farewelled many families, principals, teachers and support staff in this time and has been the glue that has kept the school together.
There are truly no words or ways to measure the impact of Donna’s contribution to the Campbell community. She has been our supportive shoulder, adopted mum, resident gardner, fierce school advocate and of course an amazing professional colleague. Donna was the person who would stay late, work weekends and reschedule personal plans just to support the school. A person who went above and beyond. She even delayed her retirement so we didn’t have to manage through COVID 19 alone.
Donna has promised that she isn’t too far away and is planning to return to us regularly as a casual member of staff. We wish you all the best Donna and look forward to seeing you soon.
We are also pleased to announce that Kim Bland our building service officer has returned 4 days a week and Bill will continue to cover the other day until Kim returns fulltime.
Parent Open night and Building Information session:
Due to traffic management, COVID 19 restrictions and family access to different year groups, we have had to spread the sessions across the week. We appreciate this can be difficult for parents to attend multiple sessions due to work commitments and will make power-point presentations available to families online after the event.
Due to social distancing regulations for indoor venues we can only have one person per student attend the classroom. We are currently working with ACT Health to organise a QR code for all attendees to use the check-in CBR app. A paper sign in will be available for those without access to the app.
Monday 15 February: 3.30pm – 6.00pm (All families are welcome this is a drop- in session) |
Building Information session: This is a drop-in session where parents and community can come together to look at building plans and talk to directorate and construction staff. |
