2020 Campbell Primary School Remembrance Day
On the 11th day of the 11th month Campbell Primary School staff and students came together to commemorate Remembrance Day. Each year on this day Australians observe one minute’s silence at 11am, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts.
Hosted for the very first time in shadow of our new commemorative mural and led beautifully by our school Captains, it was an opportunity to collectively reflect and honour those that have served our Nation in such a beautiful and peaceful setting.
We were fortunate to be supported by Lt Col Sarah Craig who delivered a beautiful commemorative address, a tri service flag party led by WO1 Andrew Remin from ADFA and CPL Justin Lingard from the RMC Band on the bugle.
Our junior choir beautifully performed “Where Have all the Flowers Gone?” which is available to view on the Campbell Connects classroom page.
We would like to also thank Lyle Williams for his expertise providing the audio support, Ms Woods for accompanying us for the National Anthem on the flute, and students’ Makensie and Caitlyn who created the beautiful wreaths that were used for the service.
We would also like to thank the DVA Saluting Their Service grant program for funding our mural, and artist Kurt Laurenson from Stylized impact who made our vision a reality. May it serve as a reminder to always remember the sacrifice of those that serve.
Lest We Forget
