Principals message
Dear Families,
What an amazing fortnight of learning and activity! It has been lovely to watch the preschool classes visit our kindergarten spaces and for kindergarten to join the preschool for reading times. Today we had our STEM day which welcomed many local providers into the school to deliver quality STEM based learning experiences. In the next newsletter we will provide a more detailed follow up piece from the day which acknowledges the many great organisations who joined us today.
We are hoping in 2021 that we will be able to run this great event as it was originally intended, and host a STEM evening where our teachers, students and families can all come together for a community night full of fun, excitement and investigation.
ACT Public Education Awards
Congratulations must go to Karyn Heitmann and Cathy Dee for their recent nominations in the 2020 ACT Public Education Awards: Celebrating Excellence, in the categories of Education Support Person of the Year and Primary Teacher of the Year. These nominations acknowledge the outstanding contribution they have made to public education in the ACT and we are very excited to have two staff members acknowledged this year.
World Teachers’ Day
Last week we celebrated our amazing teachers and their contributions to Public Education. I feel very privileged to work with an incredible group of Educators who work tirelessly to deliver quality learning outcomes for all their students even in these unusual times. I would also like to thank the many parents who sent in emails of gratitude and recognition for the contributions our teachers make every day. A special thank you to the P&C for their exceptionally generous contribution towards putting on a staff lunch on this day. It was very well received and enabled the school to support a local Campbell business.
Class placements
Letters have been sent home to identify children that your child works well with so that we can endeavour to ensure every child has a friendly face in their class for 2021. However, classroom teachers and the executive team also have input into the class configurations and bring to the decision their knowledge of how children interact in the classroom and the learning context.
When completing the form please identify as many children as possible with the understanding that they may not receive their first choice. Class configurations and dynamics are very challenging, and we appreciate your support in this area.
Campbell Carpark safety
There have been several complaints from families regarding where some of our community are parking and driving.
- Please be aware that no one should be driving and parking behind the preschool area unless accessing the disability carpark
- Our carpark should not be used by our community as a whole day carpark unless you are remaining on the school site. We have limited spaces and they need to be available for people accessing the school
- Please remember children can be unpredictable and to always be hyper vigilant and reduce your speed in our carparks
