Principals message
Dear Families,
It is very exciting to be welcoming students back for our final term of 2020. Although things will continue to operate slightly differently when compared to previous years, the easing of Covid-19 restrictions enables us to move forward with some exciting activities including:
Junior swimming lessons
Transition days
Kindergarten orientation visits
Graduation events
Book week
Come and play preschool sessions
End of year celebrations (modified)
For more information on the easing of restrictions, please refer to the road map included in this newsletter or visit the ACT Education Directorate’s website www.education.act.gov.au.
School modernisation update
I am pleased to announce that the procurement process to modernise our school has progressed and the design contract has been awarded to Lendlease Building PTY Ltd. Lendlease is a multinational construction company who has extensive experience building education, health, and other public infrastructure.
In recent weeks, I have been meeting with the project team to discuss various aspects of Lendlease’s proposal and develop the final design for our new learning spaces. The design will also be assessed to ensure it meets the necessary design principles within the allocated funding of $18.819 million for the school’s modernisation.
In addition, the Directorate is working with Lendlease to finalise the works program and timeline and we will share this and the artist impressions of the school modernisation with you later in the term.
You may notice different people visiting the school campus over the coming weeks to undertake site investigation. This is part of the contractor’s preparation for the construction program and we do not expect these contractors to have any impact on our teaching and learning program.
I can say that we are working very hard to ensure the best possible outcome is achieved for our school.
2021 intentions
Please remember to keep the school informed of your intentions for 2021. We are currently planning our classrooms and staffing profiles for next year which is directly informed by our anticipated student enrolments.
