R U OK?Day

On September 10 Campbell Primary School took part in a range of R U OK?Day activities across all of the grades. R U OK?Day is a national day of action dedicated to reminding everyone that every day is the day to ask, “Are you OK?” to help support with life's ups and downs. For students, learning how to support their peers and talk about how they feel is an important life lesson. Looking out for one another and lending support was the focus for activities for our day, along with acknowledging and celebrating friends that go the extra mile.

Kindergarten had an amazing time dancing to the “Together It’s OK” video (link here); it was so popular it was replayed several times over the whole week! Many classes opted to nominate buddies for “Certific-Mate” awards, going the extra mile to define what made that friend special. A total of 208 “Certific-Mate” awards were given out across the school; an incredible effort and testament to our very special student population. Every class had a conversation about what it means to be a good friend, how important it is to look after each other, and the very special impact a simple question as simple as “R U OK?” can have. Many students were rewarded with stickers for being awesome listeners and/or great mates.

Campbell Primary staff also took the opportunity to check on their own mental health as well as that of their peers in the form of an R U OK? morning tea and chat.

You can learn more about R U OK?Day as well as access a huge range of activities and support at the website https://www.ruok.org.au/. We are already looking forward to next year, as well as keeping the conversation going. R U OK?
