Term 3 Sporting Schools
With thanks to the Australian Sport Commission Sporting Schools Grant Program, Campbell Primary has been very privileged to receive funding for terms 1-3 this year to engage specialist sporting coaches to provide students an opportunity to try new sports.
This term it was our Kindergarten and Year 1 classes' turn to have a go at gymnastics delivered in the Hall by Canberra City Gymnastics Club coaching staff. All 96 students got into the spirit of the activity and had a great time rolling, jumping, balancing and stretching. It was amazing to see their strength, balance, flexibility and confidence grow across the 4 weeks. The gymnastics perfectly complemented the dancing sessions and it is fair to say that the junior school have had a wonderfully active term.

Not to be outdone, Years 2-6 have been participating in the Cricket Blast program developed by Cricket Australia and delivered by specialist coaches from Cricket NSW. These sessions were postponed due to remote learning in term 1 but have returned with vigour and are a great way to round out the term. Over the 4 weeks of the program students have participated in sessions focused on throwing and catching, bowling, batting and finally putting it all together for mini games. Students had a lot of fun honing their skills and trying something new.
