School Commemorative Mural
Earlier this year Campbell Primary School was successful in securing a Department of Veterans Affairs "Saluting Their Service" Grant. We have since engaged a highly accomplished local artist to assist with the design and eventual delivery of a commemorative mural for Campbell Primary celebrating our unique connection with the Australian Defence Force, both current and historical. We have already transitioned through a few revisions of the original design in consultation with Campbell Primary Staff and students and now it is our CPS community's turn to provide feedback on the proposed design! Within the design we have poppies representing Remembrance Day and rosemary representing ANZAC Day. We have children paused in reflection with candles representing students and the new generation as well as service men and women in silhouette representing all 3 services. The Australian War Memorial represents our local connections with the spirit of Remembrance and the Campbell community. The mural will be located at the end of the hall and provide a beautiful backdrop to our newly located flag poles and tie in with our beautiful commemorative garden space featuring trees grown from the Gallipoli lone pine that is already established.
Any feedback, questions or suggestions can be sent to the Defence School Mentor at karyn.heitmann@ed.act.edu.au for consideration prior to 1st September.
