World Environment Day Online Auction
Hi, my name is Leila and I am currently volunteering with the Conservation Council ACT Region, a non-profit, non-government organisation. I called the front office today, enquiring if your school could add something about our World Environment Day Online Auction fundraiser in your newsletter. Information about our auction is attached in pdf form. Many thanks!
I'm writing to you on behalf of the Conservation Council ACT Region, which is a non-profit, non-government organisation which acts as the leading voice for the environment in the ACT. We represent more than 45 community environmental and sustainability groups that have a combined membership of over 20,000 people.
Normally at this time of year, we would have just recovered from hosting our annual World Environment Day Dinner, its auction and raffle. These events are our biggest fundraisers for the year. With Coronavirus incidents still rising across the world, and the relaxation of social isolation restrictions in Australia being not so straight forward, we have been forced to delay the World Environment Day Dinner until November 7 (touch wood).
While we closed our office in March, we are continuing to work behind closed doors for the environment. However, for our long-term survival as an organisation, we need to keep funds coming in for our work and have decided to at least hold a World Environment Day Online Auction. This was launched on 5 June 2020 and will run until 26 July 2020. I'm writing to request that you advertise this fundraising auction in your school's e-bulletin(s)/newsletter(s). Some suggested text is pasted below and also attached as a PDF (if this is easier for you). You'll note that there are quite a few educationally relevant items. We'd be grateful for any feedback on this request. Please note that we are likely to email you again towards the end of the auction with a short reminder advert. We hope this will be acceptable to you. Again, we'd be grateful for any feedback. Kind regards, Paul
World Environment Day Online Auction
On June 5th the Conservation Council ACT Region celebrated World Environment Day by launching an online fundraising auction, which will continue until 9:30 pm on Sunday the 26th of July. The World Environment Day Online Auction features more than 90 donated items including art pieces by local school-striker Alice Harcourt, a Red Earth home battery system and an iStore energy efficient hot water system. Great value educational items include online or in-person seminars from world leading scientists and academics, Professor Will Steffen and Dr Alison Green, and an amazing singing workshop from the incredible Mal Webb.
The majority of these eco-friendly auctioned items can be delivered around Australia, New Zealand and the world which means you don't need to be Canberra-based to receive them. If you buy an item that has been donated by our diverse range of environmentally-minded sponsors, you will be doing the planet a favour. With the heartwarming support from national and local businesses and individuals, the Conservation Council is able to raise important funds to continue their work to shape a sustainable future for the ACT and region.
More information is available on the Conservation Council website or by going straight to the World Environment Day Online Auction Allbids web page.
