Tanken Centre
On Friday 13 September, Year 5 and 6 students had the opportunity to travel to Sydney to visit the Nihongo Tanken Centre for an authentic Japanese experience.
The students were divided up in to four teams: Usagi (rabbit), Inu (dog), Neko (cat), and Saru (monkey) and won points throughout the day to earn the honour of being top team of the day.
The immersive environment challenged them to further develop their Japanese language skills in fun games like Twister and timed team challenges.
Lunch was a wonderful break in the traditional Japanese shinto garden, complete with bento box. Student's hiragana knowledge was put to the test when naming different locations around the home, as was their dexterity when playing with kendama, a toy that requires you to catch a ball in the cup.
A huge congratulations to our students for tackling such a big day, and an equally huge thank you to all families involved for your support.
