Term 3 Wrap-Up

Term 3 is always one of our busiest terms, and this one was no exception! We kicked off the term by celebrating 100 days of Kindergarten, which was a huge achievement for our little people.

With our whole-school Global Concept of ‘Connection’, learning opportunities were rich with explorations of how people across the globe are connected, which was also wonderfully evident in many of our calendar events throughout the term!

The term certainly had a flavour of performance, with many highlights including a K-2 excursion to Campbell High School to see the Matilda production, Year 3-6 students visiting ADFA for the Pirates of Penzance musical, Combined Band get-togethers and of course, our annual whole-school excursion to Floriade, where we enjoyed performances by our Years 5 and 6 bands, choir and Shrek ensemble. A very special thank you to our P&C for funding the purchase of gnomes for our preschoolers to paint and visit whilst at Floriade. Kindy-Year 2 students also enjoyed weekly Footsteps lessons, where they learnt some very impressive choreography. And of course, we can’t mention performance without highlighting the incredible Shrek production, which many students, staff and volunteers have been working on all year, culminating in spectacular performances this week.

There were many celebrations of sport this term, with lots of opportunities for students to be active! Several Campbell students represented our school at the Jamie Pearlman Cup, the NFL Gala Day, Sue Geh Cup and the Regional Athletics Carnival. Not to mention, our Year 2-4 students participated in a Softball clinic, and the whole school enjoyed the incredible work of our Year 5-6 leaders on World HPE Day, who prepared very enjoyable rotations and activities.

As always, Campbell students also had many opportunities to explore the local area and beyond, with Kindergarten visiting Tidbinbilla and Year 6 students travelling as far as Sydney for an immersive Japanese experience at the Tanken Centre. Students also represented our school at the Student Congress, which is a fabulous way for young people to engage with democracy and our roles as citizens. Our preschoolers also had a special visitor, the Nutrition Magician, who made everyone laugh whilst learning about sustainability.

This term we also celebrated Science Week with our annual STEM night, where many families came along to enjoy interactive and hands-on activities which were led by students. Book Week was celebrated with a fabulous dress-up day and a Book Fair, as well as fundraising efforts such as Camo for a Cause and Jeans for Genes Day.

No wonder we are all so tired (staff and students included)! It’s been a full and wonderful term. Big thank you to our staff and community for ensuring that Campbell students have many opportunities to enrich their learning!
