Student Congress

Student Congress - by Zara, Ermunn and Hannah

Last Friday, the 23/8/24 6 students from Campbell went to the student congress; Erin, Ermuun, Edie, Hannah, Zara and Odette.

In the morning, some people waited outside with our Principal, Ms Minehan for everyone else to arrive. Once everyone was there, we went to a large hall to talk about community connections, splitting into groups, Campbell was in group A. We played a game called ‘Would you rather?’. Then we had to draw and label what we had and didn’t have at our school that could be fun or help us learn. After that, we had morning tea, where there were a variety of food options for us to eat. Most of the schools grouped together for eating time.

We went to another activity after morning tea. This time we did rotations around activities. The activities consisted of drawing your dream classroom, and talking about your favourite teachers and why they motivate you. Then some people played an ‘agree or disagree’ game  where we said if we thought that we get to make decisions about our learning. After that, we  had lunch, then went outside with our hats and Miss Minehan. We made daisy chains, played soccer and filled cups with daisies.

After lunch, the Campbell students went back into the hall where we heard stories about how Student Congress started and the people who made it happen. Then all of the schools got to ask questions including three from Campbell Primary.

After that we split into groups again and discussed what we liked about our school and Student Congress and what we disliked about them. Then some people  played an agree disagree game, where we said if we thought that we get to make decisions about our learning.

Then, we finished at 2:30pm and went home.
