Principal's Report
As part of our School Improvement journey, a committee has been formed to support the school’s work around building teaching capacity by implementing the Quality Teaching Model (QT Model).
The QT Model was developed in 2003 by the University of Newcastle. It comprehensively attends to Curriculum, student engagement, and equity within classroom and assessment practice. The Model centres on three specific dimensions of good teaching practice, each with six elements.
Kirsty Hollow, Cathy Dee, Rachel Thane, Esther Riebe, and Angela Lawlor have completed the training with the intention of this work beginning next term. I look forward to sharing our QT Model journey with families.

Parent Portal App and Communication Methods Survey
Thank you to the families who completed the Communication Method Survey which was shared at the end of last term. The feedback clearly articulated that our families are looking forward to a much more streamlined approach to how we communicate with families, specifically the frequency of emails.
In Term 2, the Digital Strategy, Services, and Transformation (DSST) team rolled out the Parent Portal at Campbell Primary School. The Parent Portal is a secure online platform to share student information between parents and carers and their student’s teachers. The Parent Portal can be accessed on a mobile phone, tablet, or computer and will allow parents to:
- book parent-teacher interviews
- receive academic reports
- receive the school newsletter
- receive messages from their child’s teachers
- make payments
- access the school calendar and their child’s student timetable
- update their contact details
- notify the school when their child is sick or to explain an absence.
To further improve its accessibility the DSST team is launching the CPS Parent Portal App in Week 8 (11 September).
From the 50 responses, about 52% of those families utilise the Parent Portal and provided positive feedback on its functions. The families who aren't using the Portal mentioned technical difficulties and accessibility issues, so to support more families accessing this very helpful Portal, we will be running workshops with the DSST in early Term 4. As a result of increased family engagement on the Portal, the frequency of emails should lessen and be more manageable. Dates for The Parent Portal workshops will be shared closer to the end of Term 3.
