Captains Corner
Welcome back to school everyone! We don't know about you but we love being back and we hoped you had a positive home learning experience. A big thank you to all the teachers who worked so hard to keep us learning.
We think it's worth trying to remember the positives of the experience.
Here are some of our experiences during lockdown and how we felt about it.
Harisen
I loved working on Google classroom and Google meets. I learnt a lot about Art Appreciation, places less travelled in Asia and lots of new ways to use technology. I really hope we keep working on and handing in our work on Google classroom because one thing it helps me with, is planning. Lots and lots of planning, to make sure I handed in things on time.

My parents were working at work through the time we weren’t at school so I got to go to Majura Primary, one of the hubs. I had lots of fun as kids from other school’s were there and I made lots of new friends. I also enjoyed learning how to utilize some new ways to learn. I also became a lot more organised as I had to hand all my work in on time and keep it in the right places. I am normally extremely unorganized so this was pretty cool.

The challenge of waking up everyday and getting my work done was very unique. There were no strict times for us to get our work done which for me created a large goal to find motivation out of thin air and complete all the work our teachers had given us. After a few weeks of home learning I started to get lonely learning by myself away from our wonderful school and my friends. Now we are almost going back to normal. I can reflect on the experience in a good way, and use the skills I learnt for the future.

One of my parents continued working full time and my other parent’s job was just starting up again as it was temporarily closed due to COVID-19 so I did a mix of home-schooling and going to hubs. Both of those situations were very different and new to everyone from the students to parents and teachers. Even though they were new, they were exciting and challenged me to learn in different ways.
Appreciation Week
In week 10 we are going to celebrate being back at school. Week 10 is going to be all about appreciation and thanking people. Throughout the week students from Preschool to Year 6 will be participating in a variety of activities to celebrate our return to school. One of our favourite activities is making pom-poms to hang in the trees to show that we are back at school again. Preschool students will be creating ‘circles of belonging’ to hang in their playground.
All students will also be asked to create a piece of writing or a drawing showing things that they are grateful for. Student work will be bound together to make a whole school ‘Book of Appreciation’.
We are super excited for week 10 and we hope you are too! Please have a look at the timetable we have attached.
