Principal's Report
Year 5/6 Shark Tank
At the end of week 5, I worked with our Year 5-6 cohorts as a Shark for their Unit of Inquiry summative Shark Tank task. The students have been working collaboratively to create an invention and then marketed their idea to a panel of Sharks (Ms Dani, Mr Scherer, and myself). The student presenters confidently spoke about their inventions and persuaded each member of the panel to invest.
This type of learning is a perfect example of ways our senior students apply deep understanding to a real-world problem. We were so proud of their innovative ideas and reflective processes.

Coffee and Crumbs
Our Year 6 school leaders have started a Coffee and Crumbs initiative. Families can purchase a lovely warm drink and sweet treat every Friday morning before Yuma. Coffee and Crumbs is a great way to develop our students' leadership skills, foster a sense of responsibility, and build a positive school culture. If you are onsite on Friday please pop across to the canteen. Thank you Year 6 and Ms J and Ms Deady for your support.

Eddie Longford - Window decals of our Curious, Connected, and Caring Values
The CPS Cultural Integrity Committee has been working with Eddie Longford. Eddie is a Wiradjuri man who is a contemporary artist, specialising in large-scale murals.

Eddie ran several workshops with our Year 2 and 5 students to co-design native Australian animals that represent Campbell Primary School’s values. The students identified the Emu for Curious, Wombat for Connected, and Kangaroo for Caring.
The artwork below is the final piece. Eddie has also included Mt Ainslie and Lake Burley Griffin. Families will also notice the ‘u’ shape images used at the bottom of the artwork, representing the community of CPS.
This week the artwork will be displayed using the big windows that lead up to the hall and an unveiling was organised for Friday 7. I have invited one of our 2023 Year 6 leaders, Xavier B, to participate in the unveiling. Xavier’s Year 6 leadership promise enabled our engagement with Eddie and we are so thankful for the connection, because I know that the mural will bring depth to our Values and encourage conversations about First Peoples and their cultures.
I hope all of our families have a wonderful long weekend.
Take care
