Principal's message

Dear Families and Carers,

As we enter week 6, we welcome back our Year 5 and 6 students and teachers to their physical teaching spaces.  It is so nice to hear the buzz in the classrooms and to watch the children reconnect with their peers.  Although it may feel like everything is back to normal there are a few protocols that must remain in place.

  • A school cleaner is in the school regularly cleaning high touch surfaces.
  • Adult social distancing is required in all classroom and administration spaces.
  • Handwashing and hygiene protocols are being promoted regularly.
  • Kiss and drop off continues for Year 1-6, students are required to move straight to the Quad in the mornings.
  • Preschool and Kindergarten children can be dropped off and collected from their designated areas. Parents are required to exit school grounds immediately after drop off/pick up.
  • Parents can contact the school via email and telephone. Appointments can be made with the leadership team and classroom teachers when necessary.
  • Teachers and students experiencing symptoms of illness must stay home until well.
  • Assemblies and recognition of achievement will be conducted in small class cohort groups until further notice.

Directorate Advice regarding changes to semester 1 reporting:

Due to the unprecedented circumstances faced by schools across Australia this year, a national agreement has been reached to modify school reporting for Semester 1. In the ACT we will reduce the level of Semester 1 reporting for students from Kindergarten to year 10.

We recognise that providing families with information about their child’s progress and learning is crucial and will be especially valuable after the start to the year we have all experienced.

Semester 1 school reports for 2020 will still include information about each student’s level of progress against specific achievement standards for the learning areas that were covered in Semester 1. Teachers will still make a judgement about the level of engagement each student has demonstrated with their learning and, where appropriate, work habits. Personal and Social Capability will still be included.

Reports in Semester 1 will not include overall grades for learning areas/subjects or a comparative A-E grade summary. Additionally, reports will not include attendance information for Semester 1.

If you would like further information about your child’s progress please consult with your classroom/subject teacher.

For any other queries or concerns, you can contact the Education Directorate via the Education Directorate Contact Form or call 6205 5429.

Thank you to the P&C

Thank you to the P&C for applying to participate and co-ordinating the Floriade Reimagined Community project.  The P&C, students and wider Campbell community filled pots and garden beds with soil, designed planting templates, co-ordinated watering regimes and planted approximately 4000 bulbs and annuals.  This was no small feet especially with social distancing protocols in place!  A special mention to Emma Lybrand for her onsite support and behind the scenes co-ordination!  It will be very exciting to see the flowers bloom and our community grow!
