Deputy Principal's report
ILP/PLP Meetings
Next week we will be kicking off our Individual/Personalised Learning Plan cycle, with meetings between classroom teachers, parents, a member of the school executive team and in some cases, the school psychologist. We are looking forward to collaborating to determine learning goals and the best steps forward for many of our students. If you have any questions about the ILP/PLP process, please feel welcome to get in touch with me.
Curious Kids at Campbell
We are on the lookout for ‘Curious Kids’ at Campbell, who might be willing to share their learning with the school community at Yuma on Monday and Friday mornings. Our lens on curiosity is linked to our new school values.
Last week, we heard from Jessice W in The Opals, who has been researching the impact that each person on Earth’s emissions may be having on our planet. Jessica has made some very well-considered predictions about the future of our planet, highlighting the need for individuals to take action to produce less emissions.
Jonah B in the Archers told us some interesting facts about possums, that he learned about in a book from the library. The Year 1’s have shown a lot of interest in the possum family that live in the tree outside their classroom, so it was wonderful that Jonah and some of his friends took the initiative to do some further research.
We are very excited to be celebrating the curiosity that so many of our learners are displaying. If your little person would like to share some of their learning with the school, please ask them to speak to one of the teachers on duty on Monday and Friday morning before school.
