From the Business Manager

Building Services Officer (BSO) staff change

At the end of October, Kim Bland won the BSO role at the new East Gungahlin High School, Shirley Smith School. Kim has been a long standing member of our school community and we wish her well at her new school.

The school has not been left unsupported though, as Tony Sawyer has joined our team as our new permanent BSO. Tony has been working part time with us for most of the year and started full time with us from last week. Tony has a lot of experience in schools having worked in various ACT schools after moving to Canberra from Bathurst, where he was the BSO at Bathurst High School.

He has fitted in perfectly with the CPS family and is already becoming valued and respected by staff and students alike.

Carparking

Carparking in the main school carpark remains an issue, causing a number of near misses.

Please remember these very common sense rules:

Parking

  • Do not park in the ‘Kiss & Drop’ zone – if you need to get out of your car please park in a designated bay
  • Do not park in the ‘Loading Bay’ zone – if you need to get out of your car please park in a designated bay
  • Do not park in those areas with painted white lines – if you need to get out of your car please park in a designated bay
  • Do not park against the centre kerb – if you need to get out of your car please park in a designated bay
  • Do not park on the centre grass – if you need to get out of your car please park in a designated bay

Driving

  • All roads surround the school have 40km per hour restrictions from 8:00am till 4:00pm
  • All school carparks have 10km per hour restrictions
  • Please follow the arrows and go in the correct direction in our carparks
  • Do not drive in the bus stop lane

Please drive and park safely around our school - you have our children’s lives in your hands, look after them.
