Campbell Primary School Remembrance Day Assembly
Beneath our lovely Friendship Hill trees, and in the shadow of the pines that are descendants of the Gallipoli Lone Pine, Campbell Primary gathered just before 11am to commemorate Remembrance Day 2023. With the beautiful remembrance mural as our backdrop and the highly polished soldiers, sailors and airmen from the Australian Federation Guard forming the flag party it was a lovely opportunity to come together as a whole school community for this very important occasion. Led beautifully by a small group of Year 5 students from ADF families, supported by the combined Junior and Senior Choir, and attended by a number of families, it was a short but meaningful traditional service.
A huge thank you goes out to those that supported the service; especially our keynote speaker Captain James Hawley (RAN), our amazing bugler Sergeant Justin Lingard of the Royal Military College Band, Lieutenant Colonel Maureen Montalban (ARA) who delivered the ode with her girls, and the amazing team from the Australian Federation Guard. We are so fortunate to have such a wealth of talent and experience to draw from on these occasions within our very own CPS ADF community. Appreciation also goes to Lyle Williams for his help with the sound equipment, the students and teachers of the CPS choir, the students who presented througout, and our admin and BSO team for their logistical support with the setup.
Respectful commemoration of the service and sacrifice of Australian Defence Force personnel past and present is a whole community responsibility, and it takes a village of support to do this in a meaningful way each ANZAC and Remembrance Day. We would like to extend a sincere thanks to all of our staff, students, families and community for their attendance, respect, and support.
Lest We Forget.
