Year 3 Museum of Australian Democracy excursion

Some students' accounts of the Year 3 MOAD excursion.

Recount about Moad

On Monday week two we went to old parliament house on a bus for Moad because this term in year 3 our Inquiry topic is kindness. On the bus it hailed but the windows were open so we got wet.Once the teacher closed the windows the rain started leaking into the bus.

First we had a look at the poster that was up there and we had a long talk about democracy because at Moad they talk a lot about democracy which is related to kindness and democracy is including people and not excluding people. Second we got to make our own posters and I was in a group with Seb and Teddy. After we went to the senate which is like the courtroom. After we got to the senate we shared our posters that we made. Then we went back to school on the bus.

Well I hope you liked hearing about Moad. My favourite thing was sharing our posters in the senate.I would love to go back there because it is so cool.

Moad!

It was a miserable, rainy morning. Two classes took off on a bus waiting to be shocked… It was hailing! And it was leaking through the roof. It pushed one of the small windows open. Gallons of water started soaking in and it was even coming through the walls! Everyone started yelling and screaming! It was insane! Water started splashing on the windows! I knew this wouldn’t end well. I knew it. Just wait………….

We arrived at Moad. Luckily we came there in one whole piece. When we got out of the bus everyone started shivering badly. Everyone's shoes were so drenched with water it got to the point when there were puddles in everyone's shoes. Probably not everyone but mostly everyone. We waited outside for ten minutes in freezing temperatures. When it was time to go in… There was a five minute delay!!! Then I went in along with everyone else.

Our guide welcomed us in and then we did art. My partners were Jassar and Xavier. We made a lovely river, a calm forest, and a playful playground! It was the moment stepping into the senate also known as the court it was super old it had an old style too. But before I can say anything else it instantly redeemed by the super comfortable couches it was AMAZING! Then it was time to go back to school. We arrived at school safely. It was a thrilling experience.

MOAD a story

On a cold, rainy miserable morning a group of 33 set off to the bus to go to MOAD. They barely survived the bus ride because water was splashing up at the windows and was leaking through the roof. Finally they arrived in one piece. They had to wait out in the miserable weather for ages but finally their guide came. She was nice but we felt something spooky about her. She explained that it was old parliament house and everyone there was super duper old. They entered and learned all about politics.

It was super fun because they got to create their own playground and stuff. I partnered with Eddie and Joe. Our playground had a pool, spas, a basketball court, a soccer field, a castle playground, swings,a go cart track and much much more.

Then they went to the senate and sat on super comfy chairs. Once they were comfy they all shared their playground ideas with each other. The senate was a big, wooden, round, red room and like the rest of the building had lots of clocks.

Soon enough it was time to go. We all said goodbye and hopped on the bus. We were all super tired after a big adventure. We all ate lunch and had a play. I felt tired but happy when we got back. I really enjoyed learning about kindness at old parliament house.

THE END!!!!!!!!!!
