Principal's Report
Official Opening of the Basketball Court
It was my absolute pleasure to officially open our new hard surface court on Monday 9 October. Ms Penney organised two representatives from the UC Capitals, Alex Bunton and Alex Sharp. Preschool to Year 6 students watched as the yellow ribbon was cut and cheered on as the Capital reps played a ‘Shoot off’ against some of our passionate student basketballers. Thank you to Ryan S, Jessica W, Oliver J, Ryder C, Rueben F, George S, Emi and Samara w, Esme K and Lily W who represented Campbell and ended up beating the Capitals!
It has been lovely seeing students utilise the courts before school and during breaks. The students are doing a great job sharing the new space and we are ultising the covered area for our Monday and Friday Yumas.

Invigorating Campbell’s Mission and Vision Statement
An email was sent to all our Preschool to Year 6 families this week inviting them to complete a questionnaire on our current school Mission and Vision Statement. The questionnaire aims at input and will be used to facilitate a Family Consultative Group discussion. The discussion will be held on 14 November. Please see below the link for the questionnaire:

The students across the school will complete something similar. We are very excited about potentially invigorating our supporting statements to better articulate our shared values and beliefs. I encourage all families to take part.
ACT Public Education Awards
Every year the ACT Public Education Awards aim celebrate excellence and recognise high preforming school leaders, teaches, school support staff and volunteers. It was very exciting to see that several of our CPS staff receive a nomination this year.
Kristy Nguyen was nominated for innovation and change within her role as STEM specialist.
Rachel Thane received a nomination as a beginning teacher who has demonstrated a commitment to encourage our students to perceive and work collaboratively.
Kate Deady received a nomination for her role in leading our school’s student leadership committees.
We had several learning support assistances also nominated. Jess Hewitt was nominated for her gardening club initiative. Nicola Hines and Abby Morton received nominations for their commitment to student support - specifically their work around the before school reading/spelling supports for individual students.
We are very proud of our nominees and appreciate those who took the time to nominate.

Acting CPS Principal (25 October to 11 November)
I would like to welcome Nicole Graham, a very experienced Principal of the Junior Campus at Amaroo School, to Campbell Primary community. Ms Graham will be in the Campbell Principal role while I take leave, attending a wedding and spending time with my family who have travelled from overseas. Ms Graham and I are spending two days together so that she has a thorough handover.
Community Play Group
We have initiated a Community Play Group held every second Wednesday (9-10am) in our preschool playground. The Play Group aims at offering all our existing and enrolled families for 2024 the opportunity to make some connections, meet some of the Campbell executive staff and familiarise little people to the school. We hosted our first Play Group on 18 October, and it was lovely to see/meet those families. The Play Group will be held again on 1 November, and we welcome any other CPS community members.
