Deputy Principal's Report

Voluntary Contributions

Families receive a Voluntary Contribution note earlier this term. With the inclusion of a full time STEM and Arts specialist we would really like to use the contributions to purchase equipment for those programs. A very big thank you to the 27% of our Kindergarten to Year 6 families and the 30% of our Preschool families who have already made their contribution. A reminder note will be emailed to families next week.

Thank you

The P&C have very generously organised the purchase of some home reading folders for our Kindergarten and Year 1 students. The students were incredibly excited to be taking home a very special resources for their reading at home. We love how these folders help to build the profile of reading at home.

Superstar student

Joe W has been growing his hair long and has cut it off to donate it! He was inspired to grow his hair extra-long after reading a story in one of his books, “Stories for Boys who Dare to be Different”.

In the book Joe read a true story about an 8-year-old boy named Christian McPhilamy from America who decided to grow his hair super long, then had it all cut off so he could donate the hair so that it could be made into a wig for people who had lost their own due to sickness.

With his hair long enough, Joe was super excited to get his first hair cut in nearly two years! His hair donation was 26cm long, easily long enough for it to be made into a wig for someone who had lost their own hair. I’d like you guys to be inspired by this wonderful story and grow your hair too!

A very big thank you to Joe’s family for sharing his story with us. We have ordered a copy of the “Stories for Boys who Dare to be Different” for our library. We are incredibly proud of you Joe.
