Sporting Schools - Softball
Year 1 and 2 students are very excited this term to be introduced to the wonderful game of softball! This is also thanks to the Federal Government Sporting Schools Program and delivered across 4 weeks by Josh from Gecko Sports.
Through a range of modified softball and age-appropriate games and activities, students are working on catching, throwing, hitting, and running skills with the aim to participating in some softball/tball games by the end of the program. Students have enjoyed working on their batting technique and have even had a go with softball gloves – a very tricky skill!
One of our favourite things to see is the full participation of all students in this group and the wonderful support they give each other by cheering on their classmates throughout. We are also seeing teamwork, cooperation, and communication emerging - just some of the amazing benefits of team sports.
Keep up the awesome work Year 1 and 2! Who knows, maybe we will see one of them at the 2032 Brisbane Olympics swinging a softball bat for Australia!
