Australian Cricketers Association Masters Tour
What do a former Australian cricket team fast bowler, batsman, wicket keeper and spin bowler have in common? They were all at Campbell Primary School last week!
Year 1 and 2 were delighted to take up the invitation to host a visit from retired Australian cricketers Stuart Karppinen, Rob Quiney, Ryan Carters and Jason Krejza along with cricket manager and host Megan Pauwells. The crew were in town from all over Australia to compete in the Australian Masters Festival of Cricket held in Canberra last weekend to raise funds for defibrillators for local clubs.
After a brief introduction and question and answer session it was out to the oval to teach, share and show off our cricket skills! Using fun and engaging games and drills students had a chance to have a try at bowling, batting, and fielding under the expert guidance of former stars of the game. Energy, excitement, and engagement was very high, and it was wonderful to see students’ confidence grow in their skills over the course of the session.
A big thankyou to Adrian Brunker from Cricket ACT for the opportunity. Cricket season is wrapping up for the Summer but there are always indoor and development opportunities in the ACT. Check out the website https://www.cricketact.com.au/ for more information.
