Deputy Principal's report
Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
Big thank you to teachers, Annette (our school psychologist) and families for working together on finalising ILP’s for 2022. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the growth and learning that has taken place this year, and to celebrate how far our students have come! ILP meetings for 2023 will take place in Term 1, giving new teachers, families and students an opportunity to work together to formulate new learning goals and strategies. Many students on ILPs will be invited to be a part of the process next year, to engage and empower them in the development of their own goals.
K-2 Boundless Adventure
On Wednesday December 13 students in Kindergarten to Year 2 walked to Boundless Playground for morning tea and a BIG play. Our little troopers did a wonderful job of walking to the park, observing landmarks such as the Carillon and Blundell’s Cottage along the way. By the end of our time at Boundless, everyone was very tired and pleased to catch the bus back to school in the afternoon just in time for lunch.
We are so proud of how the children represented our school whilst out in a shared public space. They all did a fantastic job of remembering to be safe, respectful learners and looking out for the many toddlers who they were sharing the space with.
We were very fortunate to have lots of family helpers join us on the day. Excursions like these rely on the extra hands of adult helpers and we are so grateful to the mums, dads, grandparents and au pairs who took time out of their busy day to support us. Special thanks also to the teachers and support staff who came along - a big excursion in Week 10 is an ambitious task but it was so worthwhile! As you can see from the photos, everyone had a wonderful time!
Transitions into 2023
On Thursday of Week 10 students spent some time in their 2023 learning spaces and with their new teachers (where possible). Following the transition morning, families received an email containing a short introduction from the staff working with their child next year, as well as information about what the first day of learning in 2023 will look like. We hope that these supports will encourage smooth transitions into 2023!
Stanley’s Summer Reading Challenge
Our children have worked incredibly hard on their reading this year and we would love to maintain momentum! Reading each day is the most surefire way to ensure that children can maintain or progress their reading growth. This week children will bring a booklet home for ‘Stanley’s Summer Reading Challenge’. Children who return their booklet at the start of 2023 with a list of all of the books/chapters that they have read over the summer (signed off by family) will receive a head start of 20 Dojo points for the year. What a great incentive to keep reading over the break! Happy reading!
What a year it’s been. Thank you to all of the people who have contributed to this wonderful community in 2023. Wishing you all a happy and safe summer break. See you in 2023!
