Campbell Captains' Corner
It has been a busy and exciting start to the year. The Campbell Primary School Swimming Carnival was held on Friday 28th February. It was wonderful to see so many people participating in lots of races to achieve points for their houses. It was also great to hear people cheering for students from their houses. Thank you so much to the teachers and parents who made the day so enjoyable.
You may have noticed there are new recycling bins around the school in order to specifically collect 10 cent recyclable items such as juice poppers and milk cartons. Over the past few weeks we have prevented over 330 items from going to landfill and therefore we raised $33.00. Unfortunately, we are still finding a lot of these items in the normal bins. When you order a 10 cent recyclable item from the canteen, a green stamp which says ‘please recycle’ will be on your order bag to help you remember to put items in the correct bin. Wouldn’t it be great if ALL the recyclable items from our next special lunch were put in the correct bins for recycling?
The weather was against us at the Enlighten Festival for our cupcake stall, but on Saturday the Corroboree Little Athletics Club and Campbell IGA allowed us to set up shop again. We raised over $900 for future student leader opportunities. We were also able to share some of the baked goods with the Samaritan Homeless Shelter in Hackett. The support the school leaders were given towards the Enlighten cupcake stall last Friday was incredible with so many beautiful cupcakes being delivered on Friday morning. A huge thanks to all those wonderful families who baked. Please collect your containers from the front office at your earliest convenience.
