Principal's message
Dear Families and Carers,
What a fantastic day at the pool we had! Thank you to all the students, staff and parents who attended. It was action packed with children entering races, team cheering and novelty events! Add a visit to the pool canteen and there was fun to be had for all that participated. One of the things that I am constantly impressed with is how the children represent the school with pride in the public arena. I was stopped by a member of the public and two CISAC staff members to be told how beautiful our children were regarding their turn taking, sharing, manners and overall conduct on the day.
I would also like to acknowledge the school community committee for all of the behind the scenes planning, processes and procedures that need to be complete when participating in water-based events.
Building Modernisation
School Modernisation Update
The formal tender process is well underway with the two companies developing their designs for our new building(s).
Representatives from the Directorate's project team and I have met several times with each company to discuss various aspects of their proposed design. Ideas collected throughout the community engagement sessions in 2018 and your feedback regarding the masterplan concepts shared last year have been considered in the briefings/discussions with each company. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the process is taking longer than expected. I will provide you with a further update (anticipated to be early in Term 2) once there is clarity around the outcome.
During the tender process all parties are bound by a confidentiality agreement. Therefore, I am unable to share any specific details with you at this time. I can say that we are working very hard to ensure the best possible outcome is achieved for our school.
Learning journeys and parent interviews
Working with parents to support student learning is a priority at Campbell Primary School. Two of the ways that we provide feedback about your child’s learning in Term 1 include:
- Learning Journey: This is a student lead and centred experience. Your child will share with you some of the learning experiences they participate in during a regular school day and showcase some work that they are proud to share. Please save the date for the morning of Tuesday 24 March.
- Parent-teacher Interviews: Parent teacher interviews are an avenue for you and the teacher to discuss your child’s progress, successes and any concerns that may arise. These conversations are extremely valuable in fostering a collaborative and supportive school-home approach to meeting the learning needs of students. Parent Interviews are conducted between 30 March – 3 April. Online interview bookings will open shortly, please book an interview with your child’s classroom teacher during their identified availabilities only.
Ms Kinsman’s Hot Read:
Holes
by Louis Sachar
A novel about a young man who is sent to a detention centre (Camp Green Lake) for a crime he did not commit. Each day the boys at Camp green Lake dig holes to build character…but…everything is not what it appears to be, and Stanley is determined to find the truth! A highly entertaining read for our older readers (Year 5 plus).
Mathematics Challenge
Each day we add, subtract, multiply or divide numbers when in school, work and just going about our daily life. But have you ever thought deeply about multiplication?
My challenge to you is to look at the nine times tables. Can you notice some interesting patterns? What have you discovered? Let me know by popping your submissions in the notes box in the front office.
Writing Challenge
I was so excited to receive some great stories on the Adventures of Millie! Thank you for sharing them, here are the first two that were delivered.
