Dear families,
We would like to thank you all for your continued support throughout the term. It has been a busy, but exciting time.
As we move into a well-deserved break, we would value your feedback. We ask all families to please complete a brief survey by following the link: https://forms.gle/dJuCqgPXKChYko8z6
Your input is extremely valuable and will directly inform our school improvement journey.
Wishing everyone a safe and relaxing holiday.
We look forward to seeing you all in Term 2.
What a busy Term 1 it has been for the Kindy Quolls!
We have enjoyed settling into the Kindy routine, making new friends and getting into our learning. Some of our highlights have been attending the Swimming Carnival, beginning our reading journey with our new decodable books and creating our Data Monsters in Maths.
We are looking forward to Term 2 and wish everyone a safe and happy holiday.

This term, the students have been learning how to introduce themselves, and some basic classroom rules and instructions. You may like to ask your child how to say or see if they recognise:
一:Pleased to meet you (for the first time)
二:I am __________ (name)
三:What does うし mean?
四:What is a zabuton? ざぶとん?
五:What colour is あか?aka?
六:What is a tomodachi? ともだち ?
Next term, we will dive right into our HIRAGANA learning. Which ones do you know?
Ganbatte kudasai!
Happy Birthday Royal Australian Air Force
Royal Australian Air Force 100th Birthday Celebrations
Staff and students would like to wish our RAAF families and the wider Royal Australian Airforce veteran community a happy 100th birthday.
Students and staff were delighted to get front row seats from the school oval of the spectacular celebration flyover and roulette performance.
It was a fantastic opportunity to come together as a full school (including preschool) and enjoy this once in a lifetime event.
Congratulations to all involved!

Some comments from Year 1 about the Air Force Centenary flypast.
"Yesterday it was the Air Force Flyover. I liked the super sonic jet planes because they were so so so fast." (Aarav)
"The F-35 Lightning II was my favourite because it is slick and it was fast. It was the fastest!" (Xavier)
"My favourites were the acrobatics because they did cool tricks." (Eddie)
"Yesterday we saw lots and lots of jets and there was a yellow plane and The Roulettes." (Sofia)
Campbell Primary School Cross Country
Campbell Primary School Cross Country
Save the Date: Tuesday 4th May 2021
Our school Cross Country will take place in Term 2, week 3 between approximately 9am-11am (TBC).
If Cross Country and running is your thing, or if you like setting goals, the Campbell Primary School Cross Country is fast approaching! You may wish to train over the school holidays so here are all the details you might like to know:
How far will I need to run?
Kinder Quolls and Year 1: a short fun run – lead by Year 6 leaders
Year 2 students turning 7 in 2021: a fun run- 1 lap of the senior oval- – lead by Year 6 leaders
Year 2 students turning 8: 1km
Students turning 9: 1.5km
Students turning 10: 2km
Students turning 11: 3km
Students turning 12 or 13: 3km
Where is the course? Given the building works will not allow the same course as previous years, Year 6 students and teachers have scoped out and measured a new school course (see below). What a wonderful and authentic mathematics/PE activity!
If I want to train….For those who are really keen on training, check out the Stromlo Cross Country Course maps at https://schoolsportact.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Stromlo-Forest-Park-Course-Map-and-Distance-Loops.pdf. Students who successfully make it to regional and ACT Cross Country Carnivals will compete at these Stromlo Cross Country Courses.
But I do other sports… Many people say cross country helps them get in shape for other sports where running is essential (and that’s most of them!). It’s also a great sport for maintaining health and fitness. Rob DeCastella (perhaps Australia’s best known Marathon runner and Canberran) competed in cross country as a school student and an adult. He went on to represent Australia at the Olympic Games in the Marathon!
I love a challenge, so…: During the school holidays, challenge yourself to practise running for the Cross Country.
