Dear Families,
It has been an extremely busy start to the week. We have held transition sessions for all students, which involved all children visiting their year group for 2021. Year 6 students even had a mini high school timetable to follow as part of their preparations for Year 7. This is just one new process that we have implemented to support children after such an uncertain year.
One other aspect that we are moving towards is to confirm for students who their classroom teacher will be in 2021 prior to the end of the year (in week 10). This will give students a chance to discuss classes with their peers and move into the holiday period with a degree of certainty. Please be aware that sometimes circumstances beyond our control can happen which may result in a few unanticipated changes. I would also request that your child’s 2021 teacher is not contacted prior to the start of next year (30 January 2021) as their focus must remain on their current cohort of children.
Building project:
In recent weeks, I have been meeting with the project team to discuss various aspects of the proposal to modernise our school and develop the final design.
We are getting very close to finalising our new learning spaces - both indoor and outdoor - working very hard to ensure the best possible outcome is achieved for our school. We will have some artist impressions and site plans to share with you before the end of term – stay tuned!
Student Well-being:
2020 has been a difficult year for many of us. Our school is focused on supporting the wellbeing of our students, staff and school community at this challenging time.
If your child is distressed, we have support services available at school, including a school psychologist and other members of the student wellbeing/support team. Our staff are available to assist your child in accessing these services.
Please find attached some resources that may be useful for your family. These resources have been developed in consultation with Office for Mental Health and MIEACT (Mental Health & Wellbeing Education & Training Providers). They provide ideas and activities to support gratitude and resilience for positive mental health and wellbeing.
As we move into the school holiday period there are also resources in the community you can access. The following websites and telephone hotlines are readily available:
- Kids Helpline 1800 55 1800 - phone support all day every day and online support from 8am-midnight every day (AEST).
- eHeadspace 1800 650 890 - open 9am-1am daily (AEST).
- Lifeline 13 11 14 - phone support all day, every day and online support 7pm-4am daily (AEST).
- Beyondblue 1300 22 4636 - phone support all day, every day and online support 3pm-midnight every day.
- Suicide Call-back Service 1300 659 467 - phone support all day, every day, and follow-up calls.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any concerns regarding the welfare of your child.
In case you missed it in the last newsletter: Class Structure 2021
I have had a few queries regarding classes for 2021. Please refer to the list below to see the tentative classroom teacher allocations. Please be aware this may be subject to change due to new enrolments and changes in circumstances. At this stage we do not anticipate going to multi-age year groups across any grade level, some year levels will continue to learn or commence team teaching in flexible learning spaces in 2021.
Thank you to the families who have returned their child’s “people I work well with” slip. We will work hard to ensure every child has a friend with them in their classroom or mentor group. Please do not send in any requests for specific teachers as it can be very challenging to accommodate these requests.

Campbell PS Transition Day
There was a lovely buzz around the school Tuesday morning as Kindergarten to Year 6 students headed off to have a sneak peek of their new year level in 2021. It was lovely to see students engaged in activities and chatting happily with their peers and teachers about what next year will look like for them. Year 6 students were particularly excited as they were sent on their way with their backpacks and a copy of a timetable to follow.
